AEROSPREADER™ COMPARISON CHART

The following chart provides a general feed delivery rate and feed broadcast distance comparison for AeroSpreader feed broadcast equipment using Aerite annular feed entrainment venturi moving feed pellets using air.  The use of this venturi is designed to move and entrain dry feed pellets into a fast moving airflow without any mechanical assistance.  This feed system design ensures the lowest possible level of feed fines creation and feed pellet breakage.  With some sacrifice to feed pellet integrity, feed volumes and delivery rates can be increased when the Aerite annular feed entrainment venturi is replaced with a rotary valve airlock and positive displacement (PD) blower system.  Rotary valve airlocks and PD blower are available on most AeroSpreader Dry Pellet Feed Broadcasters with specific feed rates and broadcast distances specifications available upon request.

Different feed manufacturers make different feed pellet shapes and feed pellet densities which have an effect on the feed rate and broadcast distances identified within the AeroSpreadermodel comparison chart below. In general when calculating expected feed delivery rates and feed broadcast distances for Aerite annular feed entrainment venturi configured feed broadcasters it is important to note that:

  • As feed pellet sizes decrease, feed delivery rate numbers increase AND at the same time feed broadcast distance figures decrease.
  • Likewise as feed pellet sizes increase, feed delivery rate numbers decrease AND at the same time feed broadcast distance figures increase.

Feed delivery rate numbers are based on the feed pellets ability to move through the feed entrainment nozzle.  Feed pellets are required to move through a space between the venturi wall and the injection nozzle tip on their way to the low pressure mixing zone just out from the nozzle tip.  The smaller the feed pellets the faster the pellets pass by this venturi wall/nozzle tip restriction. The larger the feed pellets the slower the pellets pass through this venturi wall/nozzle tip restriction with the large pellets literally having to line up before proceeding.

Feed broadcast distance changes are based partially on feed pellet shape but primarily on feed pellet density.  How much energy the blower can impart on the feed pellet determines the maximum feed broadcast distance obtainable with a denser feed pellet travelling further. Picture trying to blow ground flour verses frozen peas through a tube!
